Know Thyself
When Dolly Parton was asked by a smart alec reporter how she felt about being called a dumb blonde she replied,
“I don’t mind because I know I’m not dumb and I know I’m not blonde!”
That was such a kick-ass way to say,
“I don’t care about your shallow ideas!”
Furthermore she could have added,
“Keep on judging sweetie! That just helps me keep doing what I do best and making more money than you can ever dream of!”
The reporter who tried to goad her either hadn’t done his research or was very careless about how he spoke to Dolly, one of America’s most successful businesswomen.
With shrewd investment of her finances Dolly has built her net worth to half a billion dollars. Dumb blonde indeed!
Our inner self is like that net worth.
Half a billion dollars of treasure that no-one sees when they judge shallowly!
YOU are the only one who knows your full history.
For every moment of pain and shame you have been through you have a storehouse of strength.
Your inner world has riches that make you a force to be reckoned with!
Anyone who judges you shallowly has no idea of the size of your inner bank account.
Start valuing your own inner gold bullion.
When Eleanor Roosevelt said,
“No-one can make you feel inferior without your consent,”
I don’t think she JUST meant being full of confidence.
I think that silicone enhanced Dolly in full wig and sparkles playing the dumb blonde cultural icon to her own advantage is ALSO what she meant.
Be smart today! Let out your inner Dolly.
Know thyself and know dumb judgments for what they are….dumb.
