Zombie Christmas!
In the West it is women who create Christmas for their families – particularly when children are small.
The sense of responsibility to create happiness for others can seem overwhelming.
It can be encouraging to know that we can create a happy Christmas messily, imperfectly and even at slug level. [As per my last message I am still operating at “bug on the windscreen” level, ploughing through the work].
One morning I went to my overpiled desk and found this “Wake Up Mummy!” left for me by one of my sons.
[ In Australia Mummy means Mom, Madre, Mati, Ibu, Makuahine, Maman, Mutter – Mother]
His message was for me to remember that even in Zombie state I am still kicking ass (bless his soul) and that there is always correction tape for any mis-steps.
It gave me the desired laugh and reminded me that, even imperfectly and in slug state, the spirit of love and enjoyment can still thrive.
So…for those of you who are plodding along I hope the “Wake Up Mummy” comforts you!
I have one other small pre-Christmas comfort suggestion if your life is grim right now.
Take a good look at the “crappiness” rating of your life and then find someone whose life is the NEXT layer down in terms of crappiness.
Buy something for that person and leave it anonymously. It will feel great.
Being Secret Santa for someone on the NEXT rung down (there is always someone) will also remind you of your POWER.
This is very important for mothers. Feeling YOUR capacity to act, no matter how bad things are now, helps reconnect you to the truth that you are a force to be reckoned with.
This will help you feel better. Even zombies come back to life in time!
Thank you to each of you for all that you do – in zombie state or on full energy.
EVERY act of women’s care, done in whatever state, is the glue that binds the world together. Each caring thing you do for your children or yourself actively makes Life safer for all.
Each act of care is powerful and makes your world and the wider world a better place. Feel that power. It is no small thing.
Power to you this Christmas! Zombie mothers rise!
With care
